For its first two years, Shipstad Hall was simply known as New Men's Dorm until it was officially dedicated in April 9, 1969 and named for Eddie Shipstad, honorary alumnus and benefactor, and founder and producer of Shipstad & Johnson Ice Follies.

Fun Fact

  • In 1987, Shipstad Hall became the University's first co-ed dormitory.
  • Residents host an annual Haunted House for the campus and surrounding neighborhood.
  • The University Archives and University Museum are located in the lower level of Shipstad Hall.
