Housing the Schools of Business and of Education, Franz Hall was the first building constructed in the Defining Moment Campaign. 

Fun Facts 

  • Franz Hall creates the north end of academic quadrangle formed by Chapel of Christ the Teacher (south), the Engineering Building (west), and Buckley Center (east). 
  • Franz Hall’s roof tile is similar to the roof Chapel of Christ the Teacher. 
  • The exterior is made of red brick like that used for Waldschmidt Hall, the patriarch of University buildings.  
  • It is faced with limestone, concrete, and sandstone to link to its academic cousins, Buckley Center and the Engineering Building. 
  • It is aligned precisely with the Chapel of Christ the Teacher, face to face, their front doors centered on a line that runs through them both, to indicate that teaching and faith are precisely aligned in this place, that the mind and soul are aligned….
